Apple Filling
- 1000 g apples, thinly sliced
- 30 g turbinado sugar
- 15 ml lemon juice, fresh
- 2½ g ground cinnamon
- 1 g ground nutmeg
- 5 ml vanilla extract
Crumble Topping
- 1 quinoa-oat crumble topping

Method
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter or oil.
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Toss thoroughly until the fruit is evenly coated.
Transfer the apple mixture to the baking dish. Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to ensure even cooking.
Take the dish out of the oven. Spread the quinoa-oat crumble topping over the surface of the apples in a uniform layer.
Return the dish to the oven. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling.
Remove from the oven and allow the crumble to rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Chef's Notes
- Use a mix of tart (Granny Smith) and sweet (Honeycrisp) apples for better flavor depth.
Storage
Refrigerator: 4 days — Store in an airtight container.
Freezer: 3 months — Thaw in refrigerator before reheating.
Reheating: Heat in an oven at 175°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes to restore topping crispness.
